AMG brings the benefits of enterprise-level 10Gb Ethernet networks to businesses of all sizes
Pressures on business data networks are intensifying at an unprecedented rate, as more and more devices rely on constant connectivity and speed, which is bandwidth intensive. Standard 1Gb Ethernet networks may no longer meet the needs of even medium-sized businesses. But there is a solution, according to UK networking and transmission specialists AMG Systems. AMG’s Commercial Layer 2+ 10Gb Managed Ethernet switch series brings the business benefits of high performance and low latency 10 Gb Ethernet to businesses of all sizes.
These 10Gb Managed Ethernet switches are designed for medium and large network environments, and aim to strengthen network connectivity, says AMG Sales and Technical Support Manager Ian Creary.
“All business sectors are seeing a growing demand for bandwidth to support high-end applications, including the recording and streaming of high-resolution video data, such as in surveillance systems,” he says. “But thankfully 10-Gigabit solutions are no longer a platform that only the largest enterprises can afford. The increasing adoption of 10Gb copper and fibre NIC adapters by servers, storage vendors and others has made the price of a 10Gb solution more attractive than ever before.”
The products in AMG’s Managed Ethernet switch range have 8, 24 or 48 gigabit ports, with or without Power over Ethernet support, and 1/10Gb SFP+ uplink ports.
“The 10Gb uplink design provides an excellent solution for expanding a network from 1Gb to 10Gb,” Ian Creary says. “At 10Gb speed, these products provide flexibility and high bandwidth connectivity to other 10Gb switches, servers, workstation or devices supporting 10Gb interfaces. Users also have the option of aggregating the 10Gb ports as a Trunk group in order to expand bandwidth.”
With full Layer 2+ management features, AMG’s 10Gb switches use redundant ring technology, as well as advanced VLAN features. IGMPv1-3 support offers greater control of multicast traffic across the network.
“Managed 10Gb switches are an ideal solution for high performance network aggregations to, for example, interconnect two or more remote locations over high-throughput copper and fibre ports,” Ian Creary explains. “They allow our users to build a unified, highly resilient switching system.”
In addition, AMG Managed 10Gb switches include a stacking feature that allows multiple switches to operate as a single unit. This means an entire switch stack can be managed as a single entity with a single IP address, allowing an administration through a user-friendly browser interface. The stack itself can include up to 16 switches, or a whopping 384 gigabit ports plus 32 10Gb ports – all effectively administered as a single switch.
AMG Systems is the only UK-based IP and Ethernet transmission product manufacturer and solution provider. AMG’s experience in the secure transmission of video images and data is unparalleled. It designs, manufacture and implements solutions for customers, and is able to do so with a level of in-house control which makes AMG products less vulnerable to cybersecurity attacks than other companies, which are reliant on third-party hardware and software. This allows AMG to live up to its tagline: ‘Putting the ‘Secure’ back into Security
